GRADUATION

A credit to their

alma mater and country

We celebrated over 7 000 students who walked the stage at Graduation 2022 and
honour their determination to realise a dream in the midst of a global pandemic.
Having experienced two years of disrupted study, with very little on-campus
learning and teaching, their achievements are outstanding.
Nelson Mandela University concluded its autumn graduation season on 5 May
– only its second mask-to-mask, in-person graduation since COVID-19 reached
our shores.
Awards included 51 doctoral degrees and three honorary doctorates, with
many stories of courage in adversity and tenacity against all odds emerging from
the proud ranks of newly capped students.
